CC28 Choke Coil (Thermostat)
Electric choke for Ford carburetor.

How to replace your hot air choke

Ford-built carburetors include the two barrel model 2100 and 2150 and four barrel 4100, 4300 and 4350. Many of these carburetors came with hot air operated chokes which will not work properly if the hot air supply tube is missing or the heat riser isn't working.

The CC28 electric choke replaces the hot air choke in Ford two barrel carburetors from 1958 onward. Ford carburetors use a gasket between the choke and the carburetor - the choke is grounded through the retaining ring.

The CC28 choke has an index line scribed on the housing which should be aligned with the center index mark on the choke housing as a preliminary adjustment. In some early 2100 and 4100 carburetors the choke lever (which engages the choke coil) needs to be trimmed about 1/8" so as to not interfere with the inside of the electric choke housing. If you do decide to go back to the original hot air system at some point this modification won't affect with the operation of the hot air choke coil.

Power

To wire the CC28 electric choke, connect it to power that is switched with the ignition or that is 'ON' when the engine is running. This can be the wiper motor feed, or direct from the alternator - use a fuse for safety.
